The Old Guard 2 was originally expected to release in 2024, but its timeline has been delayed due to changes within Netflix and ongoing post-production work. The sequel, which wrapped filming in 2022, has been in the final stages of post-production as of early 2024, though an official release date remains unconfirmed.
Matthias Schoenaerts, one of the stars, recently shared that while the project is nearing completion, Netflix’s internal changes, including leadership shifts, have impacted the release plans. Despite these delays, he emphasized that the film is still set to arrive “at some point.”
The movie will bring back main cast members, including Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, and introduce new characters played by Uma Thurman and Henry Golding. Directed by Victoria Mahoney, the sequel will continue exploring the story of the immortal mercenaries from the first film
