Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) is the fourth film in the Resident Evil franchise, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and based on the popular video game series of the same name. This installment continues the story of Alice (Milla Jovovich), a superhuman survivor of the zombie apocalypse caused by the Umbrella Corporation’s T-virus. As with the previous films in the series, Afterlife blends action, horror, and science fiction, further expanding the post-apocalyptic world.
Plot Overview:
The movie opens with Alice continuing her battle against the Umbrella Corporation, a powerful pharmaceutical company that created the T-virus, which has ravaged the world and turned most of humanity into flesh-eating zombies. After taking down a facility belonging to Umbrella, Alice discovers that her clones, who were part of a failed attempt to recreate her superhuman abilities, are all destroyed.
In search of safety, Alice travels to a place called “Arcadia,” rumored to be a sanctuary for survivors of the virus. Along the way, she encounters a group of survivors, including a tough, resourceful woman named Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and a small group of civilians stranded in a high-rise building in Los Angeles. The survivors have been trapped in the building by a group of infected monsters, including a giant executioner-like creature and swarms of zombies.
As Alice leads the group in an attempt to escape, they are pursued by the powerful Umbrella Corporation and the mutated creatures created by the T-virus. Alice discovers that Arcadia may not be the sanctuary it was rumored to be, as she confronts new horrors and challenges that force her to confront both external enemies and the corruption within her own identity.
