The Northman is a visually stunning and visceral epic, blending historical authenticity with mythological undertones. It tells a brutal yet poignant tale of revenge, identity, and destiny, anchored in Viking culture and Norse mythology.

The story follows Prince Amleth (Alexander Skarsgård), a Viking warrior who embarks on a harrowing quest to avenge his father’s murder. As a child, Amleth witnesses the betrayal and assassination of his father, King Aurvandil War-Raven (Ethan Hawke), by his uncle Fjölnir (Claes Bang). Fjölnir seizes the throne and takes Amleth’s mother, Queen Gudrún (Nicole Kidman), as his wife.

Fleeing for his life, the young Amleth vows to return and exact vengeance, uttering the words that drive him throughout his life:

Years later, Amleth becomes a fearsome berserker raider, consumed by his vow.
