Dreamcatcher (2003)

Friends on a camping trip discover that the town they’re vacationing in is being plagued in an unusual fashion by parasitic aliens from outer space.

Co-written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan and adapted from the novel by Stephen King this Sci-Fi horror has always been a personal favourite of mine and I’ve always felt that it’s massively underrated. With a great twisted plot that only the mind of Stephen King could have created, it’s full of tension, suspense and some visually stunning scenes that are elevated further by an atmospheric score by James Newton Howard. Add to this a very talented cast which includes Thomas Jane, Damien Lewis, Timothy Olyphant and Thomas Jane as the main protagonists and they’re well supported by Morgan Freeman, Tom Sizemore and Donnie Wahlberg as Duddits. This is another movie I revisit every year and I still have no idea why it’s so underappreciated.
