CHIPS (2017)

CHIPS is a buddy cop action-comedy film written and directed by Dax Shepard, who also stars in the movie alongside Michael Peña. The film is a modern adaptation of the popular 1970s television series of the same name, which followed the adventures of two California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers.

The story centers on two mismatched officers: Jon Baker (Dax Shepard), a former professional motocross rider trying to make a fresh start as a CHP officer, and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Michael Peña), an undercover FBI agent assigned to investigate a group of corrupt cops within the CHP.

As Jon and Ponch partner up, their clashing personalities and different approaches to law enforcement lead to plenty of comedic moments. Despite their differences, they must work together to uncover the corruption within the force, which involves high-speed chases, daring stunts, and plenty of action.

The film is characterized by its blend of slapstick humor, over-the-top action sequences, and the dynamic chemistry between Shepard and Peña. While CHIPS received mixed reviews, it offers a lighthearted and fun take on the buddy cop genre, filled with humor, action, and a modern twist on the classic TV series.
