Final Destination 6: Bloodlines Set to Terrify Audiences in 2025
The Final Destination franchise, known for its inventive and gruesome death scenes, is gearing up for its sixth installment with Final Destination 6: Bloodlines. Scheduled for release in 2025, the film promises to bring new thrills and chills to fans of the supernatural horror series.
Plot and Premise
In Final Destination 6: Bloodlines, a group of first responders—EMTs, firefighters, and police officers—find themselves targeted by a series of increasingly bizarre and deadly accidents. After narrowly escaping death in a catastrophic event, these heroes soon realize that they are being hunted by a sinister force determined to claim their lives. The film continues the franchise’s tradition of inventive and shocking deaths, but with a fresh focus on those who are usually the ones saving others.
Development and Production
The journey to this new installment began before the release of Final Destination 5 in 2011, when series actor Tony Todd hinted at the possibility of additional sequels. In January 2019, New Line Cinema announced that a new film was in the works. Initially, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan were tasked with crafting a script that was described as a “re-imagining” of the franchise.
By March 2020, producer Craig Perry revealed that the film would revolve around first responders, adding a new twist to the familiar formula while staying true to the core of the series. Series creator Jeffrey Reddick confirmed in October 2020 that plans were moving forward despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
In October 2021, Lori Evans Taylor was brought on board as the new writer for the film. By January 2022, HBO Max was announced as the distributor, and Jon Watts joined the project as a producer. Taylor co-wrote the screenplay with Guy Busick, and in September 2023, it was reported that Tony Todd would reprise his role as William Bludworth, with the film exploring his character’s backstory in greater depth.
The film’s direction was taken up by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, who were selected from a pool of over two hundred candidates. Their creative pitch, featuring a staged freak accident reminiscent of previous franchise highlights, impressed New Line executives.
Cast and Filming
The cast of Final Destination 6: Bloodlines includes Brec Bassinger, Teo Briones, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Richard Harmon, Anna Lore, Owen Patrick Joyner, Max Lloyd-Jones, Rya Kihlstedt, and Tinpo Lee in undisclosed roles. Principal photography, initially set for July 31 to October 13, 2023, was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike but eventually took place from March 4 to May 6, 2024, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Christian Sebaldt served as the cinematographer for the film.
As the release date approaches, fans of the Final Destination series can look forward to a new chapter that promises to push the boundaries of horror and deliver the franchise’s signature blend of suspense and shock.
