Hollow Man (2000)

Hollow Man (2000) is a science fiction thriller directed by Paul Verhoeven. The film stars Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Caine, a brilliant but arrogant scientist who is working on a groundbreaking experiment to make objects invisible.

Caine is the lead researcher in a top-secret project funded by the government, and his goal is to achieve invisibility through a series of chemical treatments.
When Caine tests the invisibility serum on himself, he successfully becomes invisible but discovers that he is unable to reverse the process. As he grapples with his newfound powers, his behavior becomes increasingly erratic and dangerous.

Caine’s growing sense of invincibility leads him to commit increasingly violent and morally questionable acts, putting the lives of his colleagues, including his ex-girlfriend Linda (played by Elizabeth Shue) and fellow scientist Matt (played by Josh Brolin), at risk.

The film delves into themes of power, obsession, and the ethical boundaries of scientific experimentation. Hollow Man combines suspenseful action with psychological horror, exploring the consequences of unchecked ambition and the dark side of human nature.

Its visual effects, particularly the depiction of invisibility, were notable at the time for their technical innovation and impact.
