Plot Summary

After escaping the Maze, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and the remaining Gladers—Minho (Ki Hong Lee), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), and others—are brought to a facility run by a mysterious organization called WCKD. Here, they believe they are safe from the dangers of the outside world and the deadly Flare virus that has devastated humanity.

However, Thomas soon discovers that WCKD, led by Ava Paige (Patricia Clarkson), may not be the saviors they claim to be. The facility is just another part of WCKD’s experiment, and they have sinister plans for the survivors. Thomas, determined to free his friends, leads an escape from the facility into the barren wasteland known as the Scorch, an unforgiving desert landscape ravaged by sun flares and overrun by “Cranks”—humans infected by the Flare virus who have become zombie-like creatures.

In the Scorch, the group faces numerous challenges, including deadly storms, brutal terrain, and attacks from Cranks. Along the way, they encounter new allies like Brenda (Rosa Salazar) and Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito), who help them navigate the dangers of the wasteland. Together, they seek out the “Right Arm,” a rebel group fighting against WCKD’s control, while continuing to evade capture by WCKD forces.

As they face physical and emotional hardships, Thomas begins to question who he can trust, especially as revelations about Teresa’s true allegiance come to light.
