A group of aspiring superheroes repeatedly fail to protect their city due to their ineptitude. However, they soon get another chance to prove themselves when a mysterious villain rises to power.
“We struck down evil with the mighty sword of teamwork and the hammer of not bickering.”
A quite brilliant superhero movie full of wonderfully weird and silly characters, a good plot, perfectly timed comedy and some pretty good action sequences too.
The casting is great as well with some actors that you wouldn’t expect to see in a movie like this including Ben Stiller as Mr Furious, William H. Macy as The Shoveler, Hank Azaria as Blue Raja, Paul Reubens as Spleen, Janeane Garofalo as The Bowler, Kel Mitchell as Invisible Boy and Wes Studi as The Sphinx, add to this appearances by Geoffrey Rush as Casanova Frankenstein, Eddie Izzard, Greg Kinnear, Claire Forlani and Tom Waits as a non-lethal weapon specialist.
Add to this a terrific soundtrack and accompanying score by Stephen Warbeck and this is by far my favourite superhero movie and in my opinion it easily outshines most of what Marvel and DC have done lately.
