Dead Sea Trailer Revealed: Formerly Known as Flycatcher
Vertical Entertainment has unveiled the official trailer for the independent horror thriller Dead Sea, which was previously known as Flycatcher before undergoing a title change. This film, which has not been featured in any major film festivals, was acquired during an American Film Market (AFM) sale a few years ago.
Plot Overview
Dead Sea centers on a young woman and her two friends who find themselves stranded on the open sea following a tragic jet ski accident. Their situation takes a dark turn when they are rescued by the captain of a fishing boat, only to discover that the vessel harbors a disturbing secret. The trailer suggests that the boat is involved in organ harvesting, evoking comparisons to Eli Rothโs Hostel but set on the water.
Cast and Crew
The film stars Isabel Gravitt, Genneya Walton, and Alexander Wraith, with supporting roles played by Dean Cameron, Garrett Wareing, Al Burke, Brian Silverman, and Koa Tom.
Release Details
Dead Sea is slated for a typical immediate Video On Demand (VOD) release in late July this summer.
Initial Impressions
Despite the intriguing premise, early impressions of the trailer suggest that Dead Sea may fall into the realm of generic horror. The film seems to utilize familiar scary tropes and features a cast of young women, which might not bring much novelty to the genre.
Overall, while the concept has potential, Dead Sea may struggle to stand out in a crowded market of horror films.
